Ford F150 Airbag Recall

Ford Motor Company has recalled certain 2016 Ford F150 trucks manufactured between April 27, 2015 and November 22, 2015 which are equipped with multi-contour seats.  The front passenger seat Occupant Classification System ("OCS") in the affected vehicles which calibrates the air bag deployment level may incorrectly classify an adult as a child when the seat message feature is activated.

According to Ford Motor Company, if the system incorrectly classifies an adult as a child, the passenger frontal air bag will not deploy in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration ("NHTSA"), Ford Motor Company
will notify vehicle owners directly, and its authorized dealers will update the Occupant Classification System with new software in the affected vehicles, all free of charge.  The recall is expected to begin March 7, 2016.

Owners may also contact Ford Motor Company direct at 1-866-436-7332, and should reference recall 16S05. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safecar.gov.
